The Ertiga price in October 2026 starts at about ₹8.90 lakh ex-showroom and tops out near ₹13.14 lakh. The Ertiga is still the 7-seater most Indian families check first. That is a ₹4.2 lakh spread across nine variants. The real question is not “should I buy an Ertiga” but “which Ertiga”. This guide covers variant-wise prices, claimed and realistic mileage, the petrol-versus-CNG break-even, and a clear pick for each kind of buyer.
The Ertiga price and all other prices below are indicative as of October 2026 and quoted ex-showroom; confirm the final figure with your dealer before you commit.
Maruti Ertiga 2026 at a Glance: Price and Verdict
For most families the Ertiga VXi petrol manual, at about ₹9.95 lakh ex-showroom, is the best variant to buy. It sits only about ₹1.05 lakh above the base LXi while keeping everything that makes the Ertiga a practical 7-seater. Choose the VXi CNG (about ₹10.93 lakh) only if you drive more than roughly 1,500 km a month.
| Quick fact | Ertiga (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Ertiga price range (ex-showroom, approx.) | ₹8.90 lakh to ₹13.14 lakh |
| Engine | 1,462 cc petrol with Smart Hybrid, or factory-fitted CNG |
| Gearbox | 5-speed manual; 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters (petrol only) |
| Claimed mileage | About 20.51 kmpl (petrol), 26.11 km/kg (CNG) |
| Seating / boot | 7 seats; 209 litres with all rows up |
| Safety | 6 airbags as standard (other aids vary by trim) |
The base LXi is the cheapest way in, but the VXi is only about a lakh more, which makes it the sensible default for most buyers.
Ertiga Price, Variant-Wise (Ex-Showroom and On-Road)
The Ertiga line-up runs LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+, with an automatic on VXi and above and a CNG option on VXi and ZXi. The Ertiga price rose in June and August 2026, and the ZXi+ trims went up a further ₹10,000 in October, so older price lists you may find are out of date. City, insurance and RTO charges change the on-road Ertiga price, so use the On-Road Price Calculator to work out your exact on-road figure.
| Variant | Fuel / gearbox | Ex-showroom (approx.) | Step over previous |
|---|---|---|---|
| LXi | Petrol MT | ₹8.90 lakh | Base |
| VXi | Petrol MT | ₹9.95 lakh | +₹1.05 lakh |
| VXi CNG | CNG MT | ₹10.93 lakh | +₹98,000 over VXi MT |
| ZXi | Petrol MT | ₹11.02 lakh | +₹1.07 lakh over VXi MT |
| VXi AT | Petrol AT | ₹11.30 lakh | +₹1.35 lakh over VXi MT |
| ZXi+ | Petrol MT | ₹11.79 lakh | +₹78,000 over ZXi MT |
| ZXi CNG | CNG MT | ₹12.00 lakh | +₹98,000 over ZXi MT |
| ZXi AT | Petrol AT | ₹12.37 lakh | +₹1.35 lakh over ZXi MT |
| ZXi+ AT | Petrol AT | ₹13.14 lakh | +₹1.35 lakh over ZXi+ MT |

Two patterns in the Ertiga price list decide your budget. The automatic costs a flat ₹1.35 lakh more on every trim, and CNG costs ₹98,000 more than the equivalent petrol manual.
Engine, Gearbox and CNG Options
Every Ertiga uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki lists a 1,462 cc engine. Peak power is 75.8 kW at 6,000 rpm, which is about 103 PS. Torque is 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm. These are the petrol figures; Maruti’s page does not list a separate CNG output, so check the brochure for the S-CNG numbers. The petrol versions are badged Smart Hybrid, and the CNG versions use a factory-fitted kit.
The gearbox choice is simple. A 5-speed manual is standard, and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters is offered on the petrol VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. CNG is manual-only and sold on the VXi and ZXi.
With about 103 PS from the petrol engine to move a full seven-seat load, think of this as a relaxed family MPV rather than a quick one. The automatic is the version that makes the most sense in stop-and-go traffic.
Ertiga Mileage: Claimed vs Real-World (Petrol, AT, CNG)
Maruti quotes about 20.51 kmpl for the petrol versions and 26.11 km/kg for the CNG versions. Those are claimed figures. For planning, we use lower numbers that reflect a loaded 7-seater in mixed driving. They are our estimates, not measured test results. Use the Mileage Calculator to plug in your own readings.
| Version | Claimed | Planning figure (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol MT | About 20.51 kmpl | About 16 kmpl |
| Petrol AT | About 20.30 kmpl | About 15 kmpl |
| CNG MT | 26.11 km/kg | About 21 km/kg |
Real-world mileage drops with AC on, a full cabin, short trips and heavy traffic. A gentle right foot on the highway gets you closest to the claimed number.
Space, Features and Safety
The Ertiga is 4,395 mm long and 1,735 mm wide. It stands 1,690 mm tall on a 2,740 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is roughly 185 mm, and the fuel tank holds 45 litres. Boot space is 209 litres with all three rows up. It grows to 550 litres with the third row folded, and 803 litres with both rear rows folded. A family of seven travelling with bags will need a roof carrier or must fold a row.
Comfort features include rear AC vents, 3rd-row AC with 3-stage control and cruise control. The cabin also gets a 17.78 cm SmartPlay Pro touchscreen and a colour TFT driver display. Features vary by trim, so check the list for the exact variant you plan to buy.
Third-row reality and everyday use
The 2,740 mm wheelbase gives a usable third row for children and shorter adults. It is a stretch for tall adults on long trips. Seven people also leave only 209 litres of boot, which is a few soft bags at best. For a family of five that routinely carries luggage, fold the third row. You get 550 litres, a far more useful layout.
If you take long highway trips with seven aboard, plan on a roof carrier or travel light. If you mostly drive five and keep the back row for occasional use, the Ertiga’s flexibility is its real strength. On CNG, Maruti does not publish a boot figure for the cylinder, so check how much space remains in person.
On safety, Maruti Suzuki lists six airbags as standard on the Ertiga. Its safety page also highlights ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist and TPMS. Features can vary by trim, so confirm each one on the variant you plan to buy.
Crash-test results need care. Global NCAP rated the older two-airbag Ertiga three stars for adult and child protection in 2019, which says little about today’s six-airbag car. Check for a fresh rating before you rely on any star count.
Running Cost and 5-Year Ownership
Fuel is the biggest recurring cost. The table assumes ₹100 per litre of petrol and ₹90 per kg of CNG, which are illustrative prices, and the planning mileage above. Swap in your local rates using the Fuel Cost Calculator.
| Version | Cost per km (estimate) | 1,000 km a month | 60,000 km (5 years) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol MT | ₹6.25 | ₹6,250 | ₹3.75 lakh |
| Petrol AT | ₹6.67 | ₹6,667 | ₹4.00 lakh |
| CNG MT | ₹4.29 | ₹4,286 | ₹2.57 lakh |

Petrol vs CNG break-even: CNG saves about ₹1.96 per km in this example. The ₹98,000 price premium therefore pays back in about 50,000 km. That is roughly 50 months at 1,000 km a month. At 1,500 km a month it is about 33 months. Over 60,000 km the net gain is only about ₹20,000. So CNG is for high-mileage users, not casual drivers.
Maruti Suzuki’s standard warranty is 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. This applies to cars delivered from 9 July 2024. Extended plans run up to 6 years or 1,60,000 km. Maruti does not print a single service interval on its service pages. It points to the Periodic Maintenance Schedule in the owner’s manual. Following that schedule is a prerequisite for any warranty claim. Its prepaid Smart Maintenance Plan packages for private cars start at 2 years or 20,000 km. Ask your dealer for the Ertiga’s schedule in writing. Service and insurance costs are not included in these running-cost figures.
What the official pages do not tell you
Ask your dealer for these in writing before you book:
- The ARAI certificate for the mileage figures, because the Ertiga page does not label them as ARAI-tested.
- CNG power and boot space, as neither is listed.
- Rumion and XL6 prices, which the pages linked here do not show.
Five-year outlay: VXi petrol vs VXi CNG
Add the 60,000 km fuel estimate from the running-cost table to each ex-showroom Ertiga price. These are rounded estimates, and they exclude insurance, tax, service and finance cost.
| Item | VXi petrol MT | VXi CNG MT |
|---|---|---|
| Ex-showroom price | ₹9.95 lakh | ₹10.93 lakh |
| Fuel over 60,000 km | ₹3.75 lakh | ₹2.57 lakh |
| Price plus fuel (estimate) | ₹13.70 lakh | ₹13.50 lakh |

The two cars end up within about ₹20,000 of each other over five years. Financing adds interest on top: the ₹8 lakh, 60-month loan example later in this guide repays about ₹10.08 lakh in total.
Ertiga vs Kia Carens Clavis vs Toyota Rumion vs Maruti XL6
On Ertiga price alone, it is the value pick of the 7-seater set, and the rivals each justify their price in one specific way. Kia lists the Carens Clavis from ₹11,38,900. It offers six airbags, ADAS Level 2 and a choice of 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engines. Its turbo-petrol is rated at 117.5 kW against the Ertiga’s 75.8 kW. Toyota says every Rumion variant now has six airbags, with 2nd and 3rd row AC and a 60:40 split second row. The Nexa page for the XL6 shows Zeta, Alpha and Alpha+ trims plus a Zeta CNG, and six airbags as standard.
| Model | Entry price (as published) | Safety headline | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maruti Ertiga | About ₹8.90 lakh | 6 airbags as standard | Lowest published entry price here |
| Kia Carens Clavis | ₹11,38,900 | 6 airbags, ADAS Level 2 | Features and ADAS, bigger budget |
| Toyota Rumion | Check with Toyota dealer | 6 airbags in every variant | Buyers who want Toyota service |
| Maruti XL6 | Check with Nexa dealer | 6 airbags as standard | Buyers who prefer Nexa showrooms |

Which Ertiga Variant to Buy
Buy the VXi petrol manual if you want the best balance of Ertiga price and features for most families. At about ₹9.95 lakh it adds about ₹1.05 lakh to the base LXi, and it is the sensible default. Step up to ZXi only if the extra equipment matters to you; it costs about ₹1.07 lakh more, so compare the feature lists.
Choose a CNG variant if you drive about 1,500 km a month or more, mostly in the city. At 1,000 km a month the payback is slow, so treat that as marginal. Pay the AT premium of ₹1.35 lakh only if most of your driving is stop-and-go. Skip the ZXi+ AT at about ₹13.14 lakh unless you want everything. At that price you are close to the Kia Carens Clavis, which Kia lists with ADAS Level 2.
For finance, a ₹8 lakh loan at 9.5% over 60 months works out to an EMI of roughly ₹16,800 (illustrative, as your rate will differ). Run your own numbers in the Vehicle EMI Calculator.
Waiting periods and festive offers vary by city and variant, so ask your dealer which trims are in stock before the festive rush ends.
Who should buy which Ertiga

| Buyer | Best pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Family of five to seven, 800 km a month or less | VXi petrol MT | Lowest sensible price with the full 7-seat layout |
| City commuter or ride-hailing driver, 1,500 km a month or more | VXi CNG | Fuel saving repays the premium in about 33 months at that use |
| Heavy stop-and-go traffic | VXi AT or ZXi AT | Automatic removes clutch fatigue; costs ₹1.35 lakh more |
| Wants the most equipment | ZXi or ZXi+ | Higher trims add features; compare lists before paying |
Before you sign, drive the exact variant with the third row occupied. Check how much luggage space remains with all seats up. If you are considering CNG, ask where the cylinder sits and how it affects the boot. Also ask the dealer for the current waiting period on your chosen trim and colour.
Verdict and FAQs
The Ertiga remains the default 7-seater, thanks to a low entry-level Ertiga price, simple mechanicals and a CNG option. Buy it if you need seven seats at the lowest cost, and pick the VXi unless your use case clearly points to CNG or the automatic. Skip it if you want ADAS, because Kia lists ADAS Level 2 on the Clavis.
