Search for the Tata Winger 18 seater price and you will see very different numbers. One page says ₹12.8 lakh and another says ₹17.5 lakh.
The 18-seat Winger is listed as a plain staff van and as a school van. This guide separates the two. It adds an itemised on-road cost guide, a worked EMI estimate and a dealer checklist, and shows what the van costs to run for each kilometre.
Engine and body specs come from Tata’s own product page.
Tata does not publish a list price for this model, so prices below are reported figures. Prices are indicative as of October 2026; confirm with your dealer.
Tata Winger 18 Seater Price in India (2026) at a Glance
The Winger 18 seater staff van is reported at about ₹13.88 lakh ex-showroom. The school-fitted Skool version is reported at ₹14.76 lakh to ₹17.51 lakh. Tata publishes no list price, so treat these as a guide and ask your dealer for the final quote.
The table below compares the 18-seater with the other Winger seat counts. Prices are in ₹ lakh, ex-showroom, and reported by listing pages rather than by Tata.
| Variant | Seating | Reported ex-showroom price | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winger 3200 WB 18+D (staff / passenger) | 18 passengers + driver | About ₹13.88 lakh | Staff and contract transport |
| Winger Skool 18S (FL SK 3200 FR 18S) | 17 + attendant + driver (17+A+D) | ₹14.76 lakh to ₹17.51 lakh | School buses |
| Winger 13S (AC and non-AC) | 13 seats | ₹14.53 lakh to ₹15.97 lakh | Small school routes, tours |
| Winger 15S (FL 35 HR PAS 15S) | 15 seats | ₹14.48 lakh to ₹17.22 lakh | Staff and tour use |
| Winger 21S (FL SK 3488 HR 21S) | 20 + attendant + driver (20+A+D) | Confirm with dealer | Larger school routes |
Why listed prices disagree
Listed prices differ for a few reasons. Listing pages update at different times, and school-fitted or AC versions may be priced differently from a plain staff van.
One page reports the 18-seater from ₹12.8 lakh. Another reports the Skool version at ₹12.77 lakh to ₹14.37 lakh. Ask which version a quote covers, and use ₹13.88 lakh as the baseline for the staff van.
Ex-Showroom vs On-Road Price: What You Actually Pay
No single percentage fits every buyer, because on-road price is the ex-showroom price plus several state-set items. These are road tax, registration, permit, fitness, insurance and any body fittings. Delhi publishes some of them, so the table uses Delhi as a worked example.
Road tax depends on your state. Delhi’s Transport Department tax rates list ₹1,915 a year for a commercial passenger vehicle in the band for up to 18 passengers. Diesel vehicles pay 25% extra, and staff vehicles use the same rates.
Delhi’s school cab scheme document also lists a registration fee of ₹300 and an annual fitness fee of ₹300. It lists a ₹2,000 permit fee for five years in the maxi cab category. The document dates from 2007, so confirm current fees with your RTO.
Estimate: the figures are Delhi examples only. Other states charge differently, and school vehicles may be taxed differently.
| Cost item | Delhi example | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Ex-showroom price (staff 18+D) | ₹13.88 lakh | Reported price, not a Tata list price |
| Road tax, diesel, up to 18 passengers | About ₹2,394 a year | Delhi tax schedule: ₹1,915 plus 25% for diesel |
| Registration fee (maxi cab) | ₹300 | Delhi school cab scheme document |
| Fitness fee (maxi cab) | ₹300 a year | Delhi school cab scheme document |
| Permit fee (maxi cab) | ₹2,000 for 5 years | Delhi school cab scheme document |
| Insurance and body fittings | Ask your dealer | Not published by Tata or Delhi; get each line in writing |
Delhi’s fees are only a few thousand rupees, so the insurance premium and fitting charges on the dealer’s quote deserve the closest look. Do not accept a single “on-road” lump sum without that breakup.
For an exact figure in your city, use our On-Road Price Calculator. Ask the dealer for a written breakup that lists insurance, permit, fitness and any school-vehicle fittings separately.
EMI and Financing: A Worked Example
On a five-year loan at 9.5% interest, the monthly EMI is about ₹23,320. The example uses the ₹13.88 lakh staff van and a 20% down payment. At 11% interest the EMI rises to about ₹24,143.
Estimate: these are illustrative rates, not a bank offer.
| Interest rate | Loan amount | Monthly EMI (60 months) | Total interest paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9.5% a year | ₹11,10,400 | ₹23,320 | ₹2,88,828 |
| 11% a year | ₹11,10,400 | ₹24,143 | ₹3,38,167 |
The down payment in this example is ₹2,77,600. Insurance, processing fees and fittings are not included in the EMI.
Listing pages show wildly different EMI figures for the same van, from under ₹3,000 to over ₹25,000 a month. Ignore those and run your own numbers in the Vehicle EMI Calculator.
Variants and Seating: 18 Seater Skool vs Staff vs 13, 15 and 21 Seaters
Choose the Winger 18 seater if you carry 16 or 17 passengers daily. Step down to the 13 or 15 seat version for smaller routes. A van that runs mostly full spreads its fuel cost over more passengers.
Tata’s page for the 18-seater lists seating as 17+A+D. That reads as 17 passenger seats, one attendant seat and the driver. The “18S” in the model name appears to count the attendant seat. Staff versions are listed as 18 passengers plus the driver.
Tata’s Winger range page also lists AC and non-AC 13-seat vans. It lists a 15-seat van and a 21-seat school van. The 21-seater is listed with 20+A+D seating.
Fuel type is the other question buyers ask. Tata lists diesel for the 18-seater, and no CNG Winger appears on the range page. If you need CNG, confirm with your dealer before booking.
One detail needs a dealer check. The 18S page prints a 3488 mm wheelbase, while the model code reads 3200. Ask which wheelbase and length your exact chassis has.
Compare cost per seat before you decide. The 15-seater’s upper price band is reported at ₹17.22 lakh. The 18-seater Skool tops out at ₹17.51 lakh, so the extra seats add little to that ceiling.
Engine, Performance and Key Specs
The Winger runs a four-cylinder, 2179 cc diesel engine. It makes 75 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque. Power goes through a 5-speed manual gearbox.
75 kW is about 102 PS. Peak torque is available from 1,250 to 3,500 rpm. That lets you stay in a higher gear with a full load. Specs below are from Tata’s Winger 18S product page.
| Spec | Tata-listed value |
|---|---|
| Engine | Tata DICOR 2.2 L BS6 Phase 2 (VARICOR 11), 4-cylinder diesel |
| Displacement | 2179 cc |
| Max power | 75 kW at 3,750 rpm (about 102 PS) |
| Max torque | 200 Nm at 1,250 to 3,500 rpm |
| Gearbox | 5 forward + 1 reverse, synchromesh; dry single-plate clutch |
| Fuel tank | 60 litres |
| Tyres | LT 195 R15 8PR (front and rear) |
| Brakes | ABS fitted; front disc, rear drum |
| Suspension | Front McPherson strut with coil spring; rear parabolic leaf spring |
| Steering | Rack and pinion, power steering |
| Length x width x height | 5478 x 1905 x 2670 mm |
| Ground clearance | 180 mm |
| Seating | 17+A+D |
Tata documents round the power figure slightly differently. You will see 74.8 kW on some pages and 75 kW on others. One Tata web page also prints a torque of 55 Nm, which looks like a typo; the spec sheet lists 200 Nm.
Listing pages report gross vehicle weight as 3,035 kg for the non-AC van and 3,075 kg for the AC van. Tata’s page does not show this, so confirm GVW on your registration papers.
Mileage and Running Cost per Km
Listing pages claim 11 to 13 kmpl. A fully loaded route is more likely to return 9 to 11 kmpl in stop-start use.
One listing reports 10.71 kmpl for the Skool version. The 9 to 11 kmpl band is an estimate based on stop-start use and a full passenger load.
Tata does not publish a certified mileage figure on the 18S page. It does say the Eco switch tunes the engine for better fuel use, and a Gear Shift Advisor tells the driver when to change gear.
Estimate: the table assumes diesel at ₹90 a litre. It also assumes 2,600 km a month, which is about 100 km on each working day. Change both in our Fuel Cost Calculator.
| Mileage case | Mileage (kmpl) | Fuel cost per km | Monthly fuel cost (2,600 km) | Range on a full 60 L tank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claimed best case | 13 | ₹6.92 | ₹18,000 | 780 km |
| Realistic upper | 11 | ₹8.18 | ₹21,300 | 660 km |
| Realistic lower | 9 | ₹10.00 | ₹26,000 | 540 km |
For a school contractor, the gap between ₹6.92 and ₹10.00 a km is large. Over a month it is about ₹8,000. Price your fees on the realistic case, not the claim. Check your own van’s figure with the Mileage Calculator.
Safety, Comfort and School-Vehicle Fit
The Winger 18 seater has a monocoque body, ABS and a front disc brake, which suits school and staff duty. A monocoque body is a single-shell structure, like a car’s, instead of a body bolted to a separate chassis.
- Brakes: ABS is fitted, with dual-circuit hydraulic brakes acting on all four wheels.
- Ride: Tata describes car-like comfort from the monocoque body and the McPherson strut front suspension.
- Driver aids: an Eco switch and a torque-based Gear Shift Advisor.
- Tracking: Tata Fleet Edge gives real-time tracking, driver behaviour alerts and fuel monitoring.
School-vehicle compliance: what Delhi’s scheme requires
School-van rules are set by each state, not by Tata, so your RTO’s current permit conditions decide what you must fit. Delhi’s Transport Department publishes a school cab scheme document on its School Cab page. It dates from 2007, so use it as an example and check for newer rules.
The permit conditions in that document include:
- A speed control device, so the vehicle does not exceed 40 km/h.
- A first aid box and a dry powder fire extinguisher.
- A roof carrier for storing school bags.
- Amber flashing lights fixed at the top corners.
- A driver authorisation card carried by the driver.
The same document allows only CNG vehicles. Tata lists the 18-seater as diesel, so check the allowed fuel with your RTO before you book a diesel Winger for a school contract. Also ask the dealer which required fittings are already on the Skool van.
Dealer and Delivery Checklist for the Winger 18 Seater
Match the van you are handed to the Tata page and to your written quote, line by line. Tata publishes the details below, so each one can be checked on the invoice, the registration certificate or the vehicle itself.
- Model and wheelbase: the model code reads FL SK 3200 FR 18S, but Tata’s page prints a 3488 mm wheelbase. Ask the dealer which wheelbase your chassis has.
- Seating: Tata lists 17+A+D. Count the passenger seats, the attendant seat and the driver seat.
- Engine and fuel: 2179 cc diesel, 75 kW, 200 Nm and a 60 litre tank. Check the invoice says diesel.
- Tyres and brakes: LT 195 R15 8PR tyres and ABS. Ask the dealer to show the ABS warning light working at start-up.
- Driver aids: ask for the Eco switch and the Gear Shift Advisor to be demonstrated.
- Fleet Edge: ask whether tracking is active on delivery, what it costs after any free period, and who gets the reports.
- Service cover: get the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 and AMC terms in writing, with the price.
- Fittings: compare your state’s permit conditions with the fittings on the invoice, and note any missing item before you pay.
Two simple rules help. If the dealer cannot name the wheelbase and seat layout of your exact chassis, do not pay a booking amount yet. If you need CNG, this diesel van is not the right choice.
Warranty, Service and Ownership Support
Tata backs the Winger with the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service network, the Winger Promise 2.0 programme and a comprehensive AMC. AMC means an annual maintenance contract, where you pay a fixed amount for scheduled servicing.
Tata’s page lists these names but not the warranty years or kilometres. Ask the dealer for the warranty terms and the AMC price in writing, because they change your cost per km over five years.
For a fleet, ask also about parts availability on your route. A van that waits a week for a part costs you a week of school-run income.
Tata Winger 18 Seater vs Force Traveller
The Winger 18 seater costs several lakh less than the Force Traveller 3700, but the Force has a bigger engine and more torque. The Winger is lighter and shorter, which helps in narrow school gates.
The Force column uses the 17-seat Traveller 3700 figures from our Tempo Traveller 17 seater guide. Mileage claims use different bases, so do not compare them directly.
| Spec | Tata Winger 18S | Force Traveller 3700 (17 seat) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 2179 cc diesel | 2596 cc diesel |
| Power | 75 kW (about 102 PS) | 115 hp |
| Torque | 200 Nm | 350 Nm |
| Fuel tank | 60 litres | 70 litres |
| Length | 5478 mm | 6,255 mm |
| Reported GVW | 3,035 kg (non-AC) | 4,300 kg |
| Claimed mileage | 11 to 13 kmpl (listing pages) | About 17 km/l highway |
| Price (ex-showroom) | About ₹13.88 lakh (staff) | ₹19.54 lakh to ₹22.63 lakh |
Choose the Force if your route has long highway stretches or you want the bigger engine. Choose the Winger if you want a lower purchase price and a shorter body. Our Force Urbania guide covers Force’s newer, larger option.
Who Should Buy It: Verdict
Buy the Winger 18 seater if your school or staff route fills most seats daily and you want a lower price than the Force Traveller. Skip it if your trips are mostly long highway runs or your routes carry fewer than 13 people.
This verdict comes from the published specs, reported prices and the worked estimates above. It is not based on a road test.
| Buyer | Best pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| School with 16 to 17 students per route | Winger Skool 18S | Matches the seat count and the school-fitted version |
| Staff transport contractor | Winger 18+D staff van | Lower reported price than the Skool version |
| Tour operator on highways | Force Traveller or Winger 21S | More torque or more seats for long trips |
| Small school route, 10 to 13 children | Winger 13S | Lower cost per route; fewer empty seats |
Pros
- Reported price is several lakh below the Force Traveller 3700.
- ABS fitted, with power steering and a monocoque body.
- Tata’s fleet tracking and service network.
Cons
- No list price, so quotes vary widely.
- 200 Nm torque is less than the Force Traveller’s 350 Nm.
- No CNG option on Tata’s range page.

The Tata Winger 18 seater staff van is reported at about ₹13.88 lakh ex-showroom. The school-fitted Skool version is reported at ₹14.76 lakh to ₹17.51 lakh. Tata does not publish a list price, so listing pages differ. Confirm the final quote with your dealer before you plan your budget.
What is the on-road price of the Tata Winger 18 seater?
There is no fixed figure, because road tax, permit costs and insurance differ by state and by vehicle use. Delhi lists ₹1,915 a year of road tax for a commercial passenger vehicle carrying up to 18 passengers, plus 25% for diesel. Ask your dealer for a written on-road breakup.

Listing pages claim 11 to 13 kmpl. A loaded school or staff route is more likely to give 9 to 11 kmpl in stop-start use. That works out to ₹8.18 to ₹10.00 per km in fuel alone. This assumes diesel at ₹90 a litre.
What is the EMI for the Tata Winger 18 seater?
On a five-year loan, the EMI is about ₹23,320 at 9.5% interest. That assumes a 20% down payment of ₹2,77,600. At 11% it is about ₹24,143. These are illustrative rates, so use the EMI calculator for your own terms and add insurance and fees.
Is there a CNG Tata Winger 18 seater?
Tata lists diesel as the fuel type for the Winger 18 seater, and no CNG Winger appears on the range page. If you need a CNG van for your route, ask your dealer to confirm the fuel options in writing before you pay a booking amount.
How many seats does the Winger 18 seater really have?
Tata’s page lists seating as 17+A+D, which means 17 passenger seats, one attendant seat and the driver. The staff version is listed as 18 passengers plus the driver. Ask your dealer for the exact seat layout and count on your chassis.
What are the dimensions of the Tata Winger 18 seater?
Tata lists the length as 5478 mm and the width as 1905 mm. Height is 2670 mm and ground clearance is 180 mm. The page also prints a 3488 mm wheelbase, so confirm the wheelbase and body length for your exact model before ordering.
