What This Actually Means
The engine control unit can't communicate with your audio/navigation system, like trying to call someone who isn't picking up their phone. This is a network communication failure between modules in your vehicle.
Audio Navigation Unit is Not Responding
The engine control unit can't communicate with your audio/navigation system, like trying to call someone who isn't picking up their phone. This is a network communication failure between modules in your vehicle.
The ECU continuously attempts to establish CAN bus communication with the audio/navigation unit by sending periodic query messages. It monitors for response acknowledgments within a specific timeout window. If the module fails to respond to multiple consecutive requests, the fault is logged.
| Parameter | Normal Range | Fault Condition |
|---|---|---|
| CAN Bus Response Time | 0-100 milliseconds | >500 milliseconds or no response |
| Module Acknowledgment Count | Responds to 90% of queries | Responds to <50% of queries over 10 cycles |
Code U2007 is a low-severity fault. Your vehicle is generally safe to drive to a workshop for diagnosis. However, do not ignore it indefinitely — low-severity codes often indicate developing problems that become expensive if neglected. Book a diagnostic appointment within 2–4 weeks. If you notice any additional symptoms (rough running, power loss, unusual smells), treat it as higher priority.
Once the fault is repaired, U2007 can be cleared using any OBD-II scanner. Connect the scanner, navigate to "Clear Codes" or "Erase DTCs," and confirm. The check engine light turns off immediately.
The code will return if the root cause was not actually fixed. The ECM re-detects the fault within 1–3 drive cycles and sets the code again.
