What This Actually Means
The passenger front window motor is drawing too much electrical current, like a short circuit in a lamp making it overheat. The body control module detected current flow exceeding safe limits and triggered a fault.
Window Passenger Front Current Feedback Exceeded
The passenger front window motor is drawing too much electrical current, like a short circuit in a lamp making it overheat. The body control module detected current flow exceeding safe limits and triggered a fault.
The body control module monitors current draw through the window motor circuit using an inline current sensor. When motor resistance drops due to binding, shorts, or motor wear, current exceeds the threshold. The BCM cuts power to protect the circuit.
| Parameter | Normal Range | Fault Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Window Motor Current Draw | 2-5 amps | >5.5 amps sustained |
| Circuit Resistance | 2.4-6 ohms | <2.4 ohms |
Code B2221 is a low-severity fault. Your vehicle is generally safe to drive to a workshop for diagnosis. However, do not ignore it indefinitely — low-severity codes often indicate developing problems that become expensive if neglected. Book a diagnostic appointment within 2–4 weeks. If you notice any additional symptoms (rough running, power loss, unusual smells), treat it as higher priority.
Once the fault is repaired, B2221 can be cleared using any OBD-II scanner. Connect the scanner, navigate to "Clear Codes" or "Erase DTCs," and confirm. The check engine light turns off immediately.
The code will return if the root cause was not actually fixed. The ECM re-detects the fault within 1–3 drive cycles and sets the code again.
