What This Actually Means
The rear seat height motor isn't moving to where the computer expects it to be, like an elevator stuck between floors. The control module detects the seat position sensor reading is outside the normal operating range.
Seat Rear Vertical Motor Position Out of Range
The rear seat height motor isn't moving to where the computer expects it to be, like an elevator stuck between floors. The control module detects the seat position sensor reading is outside the normal operating range.
The ECU monitors the seat vertical motor's position via a potentiometer or linear position sensor that reports the seat height. The motor receives command signals and the sensor feedback should correlate with expected movement. When the actual position reading falls outside calibrated thresholds for the commanded position, the fault is triggered.
| Parameter | Normal Range | Fault Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Seat Height Position Sensor | 0.5-4.5V corresponding to full travel range | Voltage out of range or stuck at single value during movement command |
| Motor Command vs Feedback | Sensor position changes within 2 seconds of motor command | No position change or excessive deviation after 3+ seconds |
Code B2152 is a low-severity fault. Your vehicle is generally safe to drive to a workshop for diagnosis. However, do not ignore it indefinitely — low-severity codes often indicate developing problems that become expensive if neglected. Book a diagnostic appointment within 2–4 weeks. If you notice any additional symptoms (rough running, power loss, unusual smells), treat it as higher priority.
Once the fault is repaired, B2152 can be cleared using any OBD-II scanner. Connect the scanner, navigate to "Clear Codes" or "Erase DTCs," and confirm. The check engine light turns off immediately.
The code will return if the root cause was not actually fixed. The ECM re-detects the fault within 1–3 drive cycles and sets the code again.
