Seat Driver Rear Down Switch Circuit Open
Body Chassis/Safety Seat Control 🟢 Low — Fix at next service
💬
What This Actually Means
In plain language — no jargon

The seat's rear-down switch has a broken electrical connection, like a light switch that won't complete the circuit. The ECU can't detect when you're trying to move the seat backward.

Symptoms You May Notice
3 known symptoms for this code
Seat rear down button doesn't work or is unresponsive
Warning light or message displayed on dashboard
Seat memory function fails for rear position

Embedded Systems Insight
What the ECU/ECM is actually computing

The ECU monitors voltage signals from the driver seat rear-down switch. When the switch is pressed, it should ground the circuit and create a voltage drop that the ECU detects as a valid command. An open circuit means no voltage change is detected.

Voltage & Parameter Thresholds

Parameter Normal Range Fault Condition
Switch Circuit Voltage 5V (unpressed) to 0V (pressed) Stuck at 5V or no voltage response detected
Circuit Resistance Less than 50 ohms when closed Greater than 10,000 ohms or infinite (open)

Diagnostic & DIY Fix Guide
Check these in order — from cheapest to most complex
1
Seat rear-down switch connector
Inspect the connector under the seat for corrosion, loose pins, or water damage and clean or reseat it.
2
Wiring harness and connectors
Check the entire wiring path from switch to ECU for pinched, cut, or corroded wires and repair as needed.
3
Seat rear-down switch assembly
Replace the switch if the connector is clean but the circuit remains open.
