What This Actually Means
The car's computer detected a problem with the driver's side power window motor or its electrical circuit, similar to a broken wire preventing a fan from spinning. The motor isn't responding properly to your commands.
Driver Power Window Motor Circuit Failure
The car's computer detected a problem with the driver's side power window motor or its electrical circuit, similar to a broken wire preventing a fan from spinning. The motor isn't responding properly to your commands.
The body control module monitors the current draw and motor response when the power window switch is activated. It detects open circuits, short circuits, or excessive resistance in the window motor circuit by comparing actual current flow to expected thresholds.
| Parameter | Normal Range | Fault Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Motor Current Draw | 2-8 amps during operation | Zero amps or excessive current (short circuit) |
| Switch Signal Voltage | 12V when activated | 0V or unstable voltage |
Code B1410 is a low-severity fault. Your vehicle is generally safe to drive to a workshop for diagnosis. However, do not ignore it indefinitely — low-severity codes often indicate developing problems that become expensive if neglected. Book a diagnostic appointment within 2–4 weeks. If you notice any additional symptoms (rough running, power loss, unusual smells), treat it as higher priority.
Once the fault is repaired, B1410 can be cleared using any OBD-II scanner. Connect the scanner, navigate to "Clear Codes" or "Erase DTCs," and confirm. The check engine light turns off immediately.
The code will return if the root cause was not actually fixed. The ECM re-detects the fault within 1–3 drive cycles and sets the code again.
